Yellowjackets Pull Off Thrilling HOL Road Win in Barnesville

The Perham Girls Basketball team improved to 2-0 with a thrilling 67-66 victory over the Barnesville Trojans in Barnesville on Thursday, December 3.

Sydney Anderson corralled an inbounds pass for a steal after it was tipped by Olivia Pilgrim to seal the victory for the Yellowjackets. The Yellowjackets led throughout the contest, but the Trojans rallied back with a strong second half.

Anderson led the Yellowjackets with 22 points. She caught fire from the outside in the game. The Yellowjackets hit 12 3-pointers in the game, eight of them in the first half. Anderson hit four of them for Perham.

The Yellowjackets started strong from beyond the arc, jumping ahead of Barnesville by attacking from beyond the arc. Perham held a 32-24 advantage at the half.

Willow Thiel had a strong second half for Perham, scoring 13 of her 15 points in the second half. Olivia Pilgrim added 13 points and Greta Hillukka finished with 11 in the win.

Barnesville was led by Abby John. John poured in 22 points, while Kenzie Skogen and Emily Bredman finished with 10 points each for the Trojans.

Barnesville outscored the Yellowjackets 42-35 in the second half, but could not overcome the early deficit.

Perham improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the Heart O' Lakes Conference. Barnesville dropped to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the HOL. Perham returns to action on December 6 with a road game at Underwood.
