Tyler Owen comes back for his second year as Head Coach of the Battle Lake boys’ basketball team.  His Battlers are looking to improve on their 6-11 overall record and 4-8 Little Eight Conference mark as they enter the 2021-22 season.  Mike Scholten will assist Owen, who sees Hancock and Ashby as top teams in Section 6A, while Ashby and Hillcrest are the favorites in the Little Eight Conference.

“The outlook for the 21/22 squad is exciting,” shared Coach Owen.  “We are optimistic that we will pick up where we left off after finishing last season on a 3-game win streak.  Our guard play should be solid, but we lack size and depth.  Staying healthy and playing our roles is what will lead to success this season.”

Drew Johnson and Owen Buehler are the only returning starters for Battle Lake.  They have several holes to fill after losing Brady VanErp, Kayne Cameron, Nick Carter-Fischer and Drew Durbin to graduation.

Mason Dalluge will be expected to fill a big role this year after losing Kayne Cameron to graduation,” added Coach Owen.

Noah Mansker, Dallas Bush and Sam Jossart are all expected to take on varsity roles this season.
