Drew Johnson begins his first season as Head Coach of the Parkers Prairie boys’ basketball team and the task he and assistants Tim Andresen and Andrew Warren are facing is a challenging one as they lost several exceptional varsity contributors from their 15-5 squad to graduation.

Gone are Brendan Johnson, Owen Hezlep, Micah Arens, Florian Koep and Riley Thoennes.

Senior Cole Koep and junior Mason Arens bring some solid varsity experience to the court, however, the rest of the varsity roster is undecided as the Panthers begin practice.

“We will be fast and athletic, and this group has a good basketball IQ, but we have lots of spots to fill from last year as we lost key seniors that played a big role in the program,” acknowledged Coach Johnson.

Ashby, Henning and Hancock are Johnson’s favorites in Section 6A.
