The Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Boys Soccer team battled with the Bemidji Lumberjacks, Monday, at home, to a 0-0 tie on a rain soaked field.  Both teams had several scoring opportunities throughout the game, and into OT, but, neither team was able to connect with a game winning goal.  Comet Keeper, Soren Floden was perfect in net with seven saves.

“This was a test for the Comets, playing one of the top teams in the conference,” said HLA Head Coach Rod Jensen.  “I was very pleased and proud of how the team stood up to the challenge.  ALL players on the field, gave their all and did their best today!”

“Of special notice was our defensive efforts with Simon Davidson and Cole Peterson directing the Comet defensive and thwarting several Lumberjack attacks before they could develop,” continued Jensen.  “Midfielder, Simon Kleven, was all over the field initiating attacks, and providing defensive support.  Attackers Gabe Swedenburg and Abram Ness, did a great job in creating several scoring opportunities, as well as pressuring the Lumberjack backs and creating Bemidji turnovers.

The Comets now 6-1-1, face off with Pelican Rapids on Tuesday in a road contest.  “PRHS, is definitely another top conference team,” said Jensen.  “With matches Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and again on Thursday, this week will again be another test for the Comets in terms of endurance and stamina!”
