Perham scored one run in each of the first four innings in a 4-1 win over Wadena-Deer Creek on Thursday in the Section 8AA baseball playoffs. Winning pitcher Chas Melvin (7IP, 3H, 1R, 0ER, 7K, 5BB) launched a solo homer in the first inning to give the Yellowjackets the early lead. Melvin went 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring twice.
Jacob McAllister added a run-scoring double in 3 at bats and Rian Solberg knocked in a run with a single. Jack Mensing was 2-for-2 at the plate, scoring once and Conner Colliton also scored for Perham. McAllister and Blaiz Schmidt each had a stolen base.
Losing pitcher Josh Dykhoff (6IP, 8H, 4R, 3ER, 4K, 1BB) led the Wolverines at the plate, going 1-for-3 with an RBI single. Tony Kreklau was also 1-for-3 with a run scored. The other hit for WDC came from Tyson Barthel.
Perham will play at 4:30pm on Tuesday in Deer Creek, while Wadena-Deeer Creek has an elimination game at 2:00pm Tuesday in Deer Creek.
