Recent Wadena-Deer Creek Baseball News

Connor Schumacher (7IP, 4H, 1ER, 13K, 1BB) went the distance to earn the win for Plainview-Elgin-Millville on Tuesday as they eliminated Wadena-Deer Creek by the score of 3-1 in the Class AA State Baseball Tournament quarterfinals at Faber Field in St. Cloud.

Evan Lunde drove in a pair of runs with a fifth-inning double and four Perham errors led to two unearned runs, including the game winner, as Wadena-Deer Creek posted a 3-2 victory in 9 innings to win the Section 8AA baseball championship on Friday in Wadena.

Facing elimination Wadena-Deer Creek received a gem of a pitching performance from Josh Dykhoff as he struck out eight in a 5-0 complete game 2-hit shutout of the Perham Yellowjackets on Thursday afternoon.  The win forces a rematch between the two teams to decide the Section 8AA championship in a game to be played at 5:00pm Friday in Wadena.  The Wolverines had beaten Roseau 8-4 earlier in the day to earn the right to play in the championship round.
