The Hillcrest track and field team participated at the Mahnomen-Waubun Meet on Tuesday with Park Christian, Fertile-Beltrami, Moorhead, Bagley and the host Thunder. Park Christian finished first in both the boys’ and girls’ competition. Hillcrest was third on the girls’ side and fourth on the boys’ side.
The Comet girls were led by Katie Holzner with wins in the 800 meter run and the 1600 meter run. Alivia Holmquist finished third in the 300 meter hurdles, Ellie Mitchel was fourth in the 100 meter dash and sixth in the 200 meter dash, Chantelle Ufondu took fifth in the discus, Maggie Antuna claimed fifth in the 800 and sixth in the 1600 and Abby Heikes placed sixth in the 400 meter dash.
Zeke Ihrke led the boys with a first in the 400 and a fifth in the 200. Matthew Knutson was runner-up in the long jump, Gavin Knutson placed third in shot put and fifth in discus, Caden Fischer was fourth in both the 100 and 200 meter dash events and Juin Moon finished fifth in the 800.
