The Brainerd girls’ golf team took first place at the Central Lakes Conference meet played at the St. Cloud Country Club on Thursday.  The Warriors winning score of 315 was three better than the 318 recorded by Alexandria.  Sartell was third with a 381, Fergus Falls took fourth with a 382, St. Cloud Cathedral was fifth with a 389, Willmar came in sixth at 398, St. Cloud Tech/Apollo was seventh with a 418 and Rocori had an incomplete team score.

“As a team, today was rough,” stated Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “As the wind picked up we struggled a bit.  We had a full week of golf with 3 meets.  Annika Jyrkas and Ellia Soydara played very well today, shooting 84 and 85, respectively.”

Other Otter scores included a 103 from Thea Eklund, a 110 from Ella Mayer and a 115 from Annie Mayer.

Alexandria sophomore Hannah Boraas continued her excellent spring by shooting a 73 to earn medalist honors.  Junior Cora Larson of the Cardinals was runner-up with a 76.  Other Cardinals scores included an 82 from Lauren Rebrovich and an 87 from Aisling O’Connor

Ella Sticha shot a 102 and Isabella Hagen turned in a 105.

“We had a beautiful morning to play golf and it was another dual with Brainerd and Alexandria for top honors,” said Alexandria Head Coach Timothy Zupfer.  “For the first time this season, Brainerd was able to pull past the Cardinals for a 3 shot team victory. Hannah and Cora were able to post a solid one-two finish.  We posted a good team score, but Brainerd was just a little better on this day.  We head to Park Rapids early Friday morning for a 9:00am start at Headwaters Golf Club.  This meet will give all section teams an opportunity to play the course where the Section 8AAA meet will be held in June.”
