On a night when the weather was extreme the Otter girls’ golf team showed up ready to play as they hosted their home Central Lakes Conference meet at Pebble Lake Golf Course in Fergus Falls.  The Otters had three scores in the 80’s and two more in the low 90’s as they turned in their best performance of the year.

“You get one, maybe two chances a year to play at home in a golf season and the girls did not disappoint,” said Head Coach Ben Jurgens of Fergus Falls.

Alexandria won the meet with a team score of 315, just two strokes better than runner-up Brainerd at 317.  The Otters recorded a 346, good for third place.  They were followed by Sartell-St. Stephen at 376, Moorhead at 391, Willmar at 399, Bemidji at 402 and Rocori at 423.

Medalist honors went to Hannah Boraas of Alexandria with a 74 and Sophia Karsnia of Brainerd took second with a 77.  Third place went to Cora Larson of the Cardinals with a 78, Anna Krieger of Brainerd was fourth with a 79, Lauren Rebrovich of Alexandria came in fifth with an 80 and Izzy Olson of Brainerd also shot an 80.

Ana Jyrkas led the Otters with an 81, tying for seventh with Katie Foley of Brainerd.  Ellia Soydara shot an 86, Anna Mayer an 87, Thea Eklund a 92 and Lexi Metcalf a 93.

Other Alexandria scores included an 83 for Aisling O’Connor tying for ninth place, a 97 from Isabella Hagen and a 99 from Rachel Bowen.

“It was a very windy day made even more complicated by some very fast greens,” commented Alexandria Head Coach Tim Zupfer.  “As has been the case, the Cardinals were in a duel with their friendly rivals from Brainerd.  We played very well over the closing holes to erase a deficit and claim a 2-stroke team victory.  We shot a very respectable team score.”
