Annika Jyrkas had an amazing day on the course in Bemidji on Friday,” said Head Coach Ben Jurgens of the Fergus Falls girls’ golf team.  “It was a beautiful day and she shot an 84 and hit so many nice shots.  She was bombing it off the tee and hitting greens in regulation.  It was fun to watch.”

Jyrkas placed eighth individually and the Otters were fourth as a team with a score of 367.  Brainerd won the meet with a 322, followed by Detroit Lakes at 331 and Pequot Lakes at 366.  Katie Foley of Brainerd was the medalist with a 76 and Nicki Son of Bemidji was runner-up with a 77.  Anna Krieger of Brainerd finished third with a 78, followed by Mckenna Mallow of Detroit Lakes with an 81, Evan Westrum of the Lakers with an 82 and Hanna Knoop of DL with an 83.

Ella Mayer had a great round, posting a 93 and shattering the goal that we set or her before the round,” noted Jurgens.  “She gave us a great score and played a lot of really good holes.”

Ellia Soydara turned in a score of 93, Annie Mayer shot a 97 and Thea Eklund came in with a 98 to round out the scoring for the Otters.

“This was the first time in two years we have been on the section course and for almost everyone it was the first time they had played the course so we are proud of our effort today,” added Coach Jurgens.
