The 2019 season ended with a Central Lakes Conference championship and a second place finish to Brainerd in the Section 8AAA tournament for the Alexandria girls’ golf team.  They had five All-Conference players (Ciara O’Connor, Hannah Boraas, Cora Larson, Aisling O’Connor, Lauren Rebrovich), with Boraas earning Section 8AAA medalist honors and Ciara O’Connor joining her as state qualifiers.  Ciara graduated last spring and signed to play college golf at St. Catherine University in St. Paul.

The other four are all back with Larson and Rebrovich returning as juniors and Boraas and Aisling O’Connor as sophomores.  Junior Isabella Hagen is also back from the Section runner-up team of 2019.  Cora Larson will serve as team captain.

Head Coach Timothy Zupfer is in his fourteenth season and will be assisted by Deanne Novotny.

Players hoping to earn some varsity playing time include sophomore Ella Houska, freshman Maddi Buysse, eighth-graders Rachel Bowen, Kennedy Ellingson and Chloe Scholl, and seventh-grader Ellie Sticha.

“Brainerd should be the team to beat in both the Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA,” said Coach Zupfer.  “Bemidji and Detroit Lakes will also be contenders.  With losing an entire 2020 season, some other teams will most likely surprise people.”
