With 11 years of experience as the Head Girls Golf Coach at Frazee High School, Dave Conzemius is excited to get things going in the Spring of 2021 after a lost season in 2020.

“We lost no players to graduation in 2020, but we lost three 6-year varsity contributors in 2019, Savanna Bauer, Delaney Matejka and Isabella Matejka,” stated Coach Conzemius.  “Our 2019 highlights were that we fielded a competitive team in the HOL and the girls really improved as the season progressed as they just missed out on advancing to the second day of the Section 6A meet.  Three individuals advanced to day two, but we had no players advance to the state meet.”

Key returners for the Hornets are sophomore Krysten Halverson (2 years varsity experience), sophomore McKenzie Wake, freshman Madelyn Kilde and juniors Madeline Matejka (3 years varsity experience) and Alexis Mack (2 years varsity experience).  There will be a handful of golfers with little to no golf experience in the seventh and eighth grade who will be joining the team and looking to improve as the season progresses.”

“We have three solid varsity players returning in Krysten, Madeline and Alexis who will be excellent leaders for this team,” noted Conzemius.  “McKenzie and Madelyn also have experience on the team and they will have a good chanced to crack the lineup consistently this season.  We will have a nice amount of newcomers and our coaches look forward to working with them to help them develop their skills.  We will look for our younger kids to develop and hopefully have a chance to contribute on either the JV or Varsity as the season goes on.”

Jerry Bellefeuille will serve as the girls and boys assistance coach.

“Since we are new to Section 8AA after moving up from Section 6A, I don’t know a lot about the Section other than the HOL teams,” added Coach Conzemius.  “Perham has been the top team in the HOL for several years now and that will continue this season as well.  Hawley, Barnesville and Pelican Rapids will be teams with the best chance to contend with Perham.”
