The West Central Area lady Knights buried 54.5% (18-33) of their field goal attempts, making 10-of-16 (62.5%) from beyond the arc, as they handed the top-seeded Hancock Owls their first loss of the season on Tuesday night, winning 50-49 on the Owls home floor. Hancock struggled with their shooting, making just 35% (15-43) of their attempts.
Macy Grosz scored 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting, making 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. Lexi Bright added 11 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Sydney Ulrich contributed 6 points and Elizabeth Rustan had 5 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots.
The Owls were led by Kaitlyn Staples with 12 points and Alexis Staples with 10 points and 4 assists. Rylee Hanson added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals, Tori Pahl had 6 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists, and Carlee Hanson contributed 3 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and a team high 7 steals.
Hancock ends the season with an 18-1 record, while WCA takes a 16-5 record into their game against the defending Section 6A champion Henning Hornets (20-1) on Thursday in Fergus Falls.
