For the third straight year West Central Area junior guard Lexi Bright has been named the Pheasant Conference MVP.  Bright helped the Knights to the Section 6A title and their first ever state tournament appearance.  They were runners-up to conference champion Hancock.  The Owls were unbeaten in conference play, leading to Coach of the Year honors for Head Coach Tony Thielke.

The West Central Area girls’ basketball team had a 43-33 edge on the boards and shot 40% (23-57) from the field on Thursday night as they posted a 64-53 win over the Henning Hornets to win the Section 6A championship, qualifying for the quarterfinal round of the Class A State Tournament which will be held on Tuesday night at a location to be determined.  Their opponent will be determined during seeding over the weekend.
