Top Seeded Owls Eliminate CGB with 18th Straight Win

The number one seed in the South half of Section 6A, the Hancock Owls, ran their unbeaten streak to 18 games with a 58-40 win over Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Friday night in a 6A quarterfinal matchup.  The Owls will now entertain West Central Area (15-5) in the semifinal round at 7:00pm Tuesday.

Hancock was led by Rylee Hanson with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals.  Tori Pahl had 10 points and 5 boards and Misti Zempel led the Owls with 6 rebounds, while adding 2 assists.  Kaitlyn Staples contributed 7 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists, and Carlee Hanson had 9 points, 5 rebounds, a team high 5 steals and 2 assists.

The Owls shot 39.2% (20-51) from the floor and made 12-of-15 (80%) free throws.  They also won the rebounding battle, 32-22.

C-G-B shot 38.5% (15-39) and made 5-of-11 from the line.

The Wolverines end the season with a record of 9 wins and 7 losses.
