Grace VanErp scored 25 points and completed her double-double with 17 rebounds, leading Battle Lake to a 51-37 Little Eight Conference girls’ basketball victory over Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.  Ady Tysdal also registered a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

“Our girls had a real nice all-around game tonight,” said Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso.  “The girls played very consistent on defense and held the Comets to 19 points in the first half and led by 9 points at the half.  In the second half, we were able to control the clock some and continued to play solid defense.  We knew going into the game we had to keep pressure up on their shooters and the girls did a great job taking that away from the Comets.”

Mackenzie Foss led Hillcrest with 14 points and 4 steals. Ruby Peterson added 7 points and 3 steals, Regan Wiertzema had 6 points and 6 rebounds, and Madison Ballweg finished with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals.

“We struggled to get anything going offensively and we didn’t box out on the defensive end,” stated Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark.  "Ruby Peterson was a big spark coming off the bench for us tonight.  She played great defense and showed a lot of hustle.”

Battle Lake finishes the regular season with a record of 8-10, while Hillcrest ends up with a 5-13 record heading into the post season.
