Hillcrest placed three players in double digits on Friday night as the Comet girls’ posted a convincing 72-38 road victory over Ortonville.  Mackenzie Foss (19 points, 6 assists, 9 steals), Madi Foss (17 points, 4 assists, 5 steals) and Madi Ballweg (10 points, 4 rebounds) all finished in double figures, while Regan Wiertzema pulled down a team high 13 rebounds.

“This was a great team win for us,” commented Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark. “As a team we didn't shoot the ball all that well, but our defensive pressure really got us going early in the game and we were able to get some easy buckets. We did a great job getting the 50/50 balls tonight. I loved seeing the girls dive on the floor and I thought they showed a lot of heart and hustle. Mackenzie Foss and Madi Foss both played great all around games. Regan Wiertzema controlled the boards on both ends of the floor and is becoming more confident on offense with each game we play.”

Cassy Twedt (6 points, 4 steals), Audra Ewan (5 points, 4 steals), Alivia Holmquist (5 points) and Ella Knutson (4 points, 8 rebounds) all contributed to the win.

Ortonville was led by Emma Anderson with 10 points.

Hillcrest (3-8) snapped a 3-game losing streak with the win.  They will host Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Tuesday and will play at West Central Area on Thursday.

Ortonville is home against Benson on Tuesday night.
