The Ashby girls’ basketball team traveled to Ortonville on Tuesday night and got off to a fast start as they held on through a competitive second half to record a 46-39 win over the Trojans.

“Our girls came out shooting,” said Ashby Head Coach Kip Nelson.  “We hit 5 threes in the first few minutes, built a great lead.  Unfortunately, we came out flat in the second half and Ortonville made a game of it.  Celi Nelson and Catherine Koefod were really good offensively and defensively.  All the girls battled and made sure we came out on top.  We needed the win.”

The Arrows were led by Nelson (26 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals), Koefod (12 points, 3 assists, 5 steals) and Cailey Schlosser (4 rebounds).

Ashby made 21-of-26 free throws in the game with Nelson hitting all ten of her second half attempts.

Ashby (2-8) snapped a 7 game losing skid with the victory.  They will play at Battle Lake on Thursday.

Ortonville is seeking their first win of the season as they travel to Fergus Falls for a game against Hillcrest Lutheran Academy on Friday night.
