The West Central Area Lady Knights faced the Parkers Prairie Panthers in Section 6A action Tuesday night in Barrett. The beginning of the game had the Knights jump out to a 16-6 lead. The Panthers would go on a run of their own and take the lead 24-23 with 6 minutes left in the half. The Knights responded and went into the midway break leading 32-30. The start of the second half saw the Panthers come out on a run and lead 43-38. The Knights would cut the lead to 3 and 4 points several times, but timely shooting for the Panthers secured the victory 69-65.
Lexi Bright led the Knights with 30 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and a block. Brynn Fernolz scored 18 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, had 4 steals and 2 assists. Elizabeth Rustan had 7 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal. Kennedy Ulrich had 3 points and a steal. Claire Stark had 3 points and 4 rebounds. Chloe LaRue had 2 points and a rebound. Macy Grosz had 2 points, 2 rebounds and an assist. Sydney Ulrich grabbed 3 rebounds and had a steal. Brooke Anderson had an assist and a rebound. Halle Foslien had a rebound. Addison Staples had a rebound. Kaitlyn Hansen had an assist and a steal.
“Two stats that are indicative of the end result are -8 on rebounding and a -12 PIP (points in paint),” reported WCA Head Coach Eric Schoenbauer. “These are areas we need to get better at to win these games and we will continue to work on them to get a more favorable end result in these close games.”
West Central Area (5-4) will travel to Graceville on Thursday to play Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley and then will host C-G-B on Monday night in Barrett.
