Wheaton/Herman-Norcross traveled to Ashby for a girls’ basketball contest on Thursday night with the Warriors returning home with a 50-23 win over the Arrows.

Elissa Rinke and Izzy Schmidt each scored 12 points and the Warriors were led by 14 points from Brylie Schultz.

“We had a lot of energy tonight,” stated Ashby Head Coach Kip Nelson.  “We had a game plan and the girls went out and did it.  This is progress.  We played well defensively, they made some shots to pull away down the stretch but we did not make it easy for them.  I was proud of the girls.  We just need some shots to fall and eventually they will.”

Celi Nelson scored a team high 12 points and Ava Ellingson pulled down 8 rebounds.

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross (5-3) will host Ortonville on Friday night.

Ashby (1-8) is off until Tuesday when they play at Ortonville.
