Hillcrest Lutheran Academy picked up their second win of the season on Tuesday night with a 75-49 victory over Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley.

“We got off to another slow offensive start tonight, but got enough done defensively to be up 33-13,” commented Hillcrest Head Coach Ryan Garvin. “It certainly wasn't the prettiest basketball we've played. But sometimes, when things might feel a little bit disjointed, and we still are able to produce a few good offensive series and get consecutive stops, sometimes you just have to accept that it isn't smooth and recognize we're still getting the work done. I think we all understood tonight that our discipline on both ends of the floor must improve if we want to be one of the teams in the mix at the end of the season.  I think there were some really bright spots tonight though, too. We got a few more guys some extra run - fun to see what they were able to do.”

Noah Brumfield had a nice night with 15 points off the bench. Three other Comets were in double digits as Micah Foss had 13, Joel Quam 12 and Sam Brumfield ended up with 11. Caden Fischer contributed 9 points.

“I thought we rebounded well especially on the defensive end,” noted Garvin. “Our statisticians had us giving up only 3 offensive boards. So I think we come away with lots of good positives knowing that we have much room for improvement.”

Foss finished with 7 assists and 6 rebounds, Quam had 7 boards, and 8 other players had at least 3 rebounds.

The Comets (2-2) will travel to Ashby on Friday night for a battle with the unbeaten Arrows.

C-G-B is winless in four games.  They will play at Benson on Thursday night.
