Lindsey Mattson is a senior at Hancock High School.  Mattson participates in volleyball, softball and basketball for the Owls.  She is also active in BPA, band, choir, swing choir and 4-H.  Lindsey is planning to go to college and major in Special Education.  She hasn’t selected a particular college at this time.

“Beating WCA at Home and beating Parkers Prairie for the first time in ten years were definitely highlights for me,” said Mattson.  “Being able to have a volleyball season this year, even though it was shortened was something I was thankful for.”

“Lindsey has a contagious personality and she always has a positive attitude,” shared Hancock Head Volleyball Coach Kortney Ejnik.  “She brought the desire and intensity to compete at a high level.  Always willing to play the position that best fit the team and I admire her drive.  She plays all the way around and had a great season.  She will be missed next year.”

Mattson says Math and Social Studies are her favorite school subjects.

“Being able to spend time with my teammates and learning to work as a team are two of the things I have enjoyed most about being involved in athletics,” said Mattson.  “We get to make many memories together and have a lot of fun!”

Softball Coach Ryan Snyder said, “Linsey is a fantastic team player.  She is a positive leader for us and is always encouraging and cheering on her teammates.  She is willing to take on any role to do what is best for the team.  On the softball field, I think she has played every position at one time or another to help where it is needed and has done so with a positive attitude.”

“Lindsey is tough, dedicated to the program, and willing to take on any role that is asked of her,” added Head Girls Basketball Coach Tony Thielke.  She is a competitor.  Size-wise she is one of the smallest girls on the floor, but is willing to guard anyone, no matter their size.  We have great character ladies in our program.  Our seniors have been dedicated and put in a lot of time to help our program improve.  These girls are hoping to win the conference and make a deep playoff run this year.”

Her favorite quote is, “The pain you feel today, will be the strength you feel tomorrow.”
