The Fergus Falls Otter girls basketball team defeated the Menahga Braves 51-29 Friday night in the Section 8AA Championship game at Detroit Lakes High School. Strong defense and the scoring prowess of Ellie Colbeck enabled the Otters to punch their ticket to next weeks’ State Tournament in the Twin Cities.

The Menahga Braves got things rolling early in their Section 8AA semifinal girls’ basketball contest against the Perham Yellowjackets.  They rode their strong start to a 70-49 victory over Perham, advancing to the Section championship game against Fergus Falls at 7:00pm Friday night at the Detroit Lakes High School gymnasium.  The winner of that game will qualify for the Class AA State Girls Basketball Tournament which begins on Wednesday, March 16.
