Lady Spartans Fall Behind Early in Loss to Rochester

The M State lady Spartans fell behind 19-5 after one quarter and trailed 44-22 at the half on Tuesday night in Rochester.  They outscored the Yellowjackets by one point in the second half but wound up on the short end of a 78-57 score, finishing their season with a record of 10-15.

M State shot just 34% (22-65) from the field and made just 4-of-21 (19%) three-point field goal attempts.  Sydney Hovland led them with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals.  Megan Dreger added 12 points and 3 steals.  Kassandra Algarate had a solid game with 8 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.  Taylin Schleicher chipped in with 8 points and 3 boards.


Rochester made 32-of-62 (51.6%) field goal attempts and held a 46-33 advantage on the boards.  Grace Riley had a triple-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists.  Kyleigh Wangen had 8 points, 8 assists, 7 steals and 4 rebounds.  Olivia Matti (16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals) and Alyssa Whitson (16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists) led the Yellowjackets in scoring and Abby Bauer was also in double digits with 10 points.
