The Underwood girls basketball team featured a balanced scoring attack on Thursday night as they held off the Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Warriors for a 49-47 win in Wheaton.

“We started out really strong on both ends of the floor, problem was Wheaton did too, they shot the ball extremely well in the first half,” commented Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland.  “They hit 6 of their 8 three-pointers in the first half.  In the second half they came out strong and we trailed till about the ten second mark when Ally Johnson gathered one of her 13 rebounds on the offensive side and got the put back to put us ahead by one point.  Wheaton turned the ball over attacking the basket and on the inbounds play Brooke Hovland was fouled and hit one of two free throws with 1.7 seconds left on the clock.”

Underwood was led by Kayla Rocholl (15 points, 5 steals), Ceri Meech (11 points), Hovland (10 points) and Johnson (3 points, 13 rebounds).  Morgan Evavold recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Underwood (19-4) will host their regular season finale on Friday night at 6:15pm against Parkers Prairie.
