The West Central Area Lady Knights hosted the Henning Hornets Tuesday night in a section showdown.  The first few minutes of the game led to an 8-2 lead for the Lady Knights. Henning would battle back and cut the lead.  The Knights then went on a run near the end of the half to hold a 31-22 advantage at the break. The second half couldn’t have started out any better for the Knights pushing the lead to nearly 15 points.  The Knights finished strong and walked away victorious with the final score of 66-41.

The Lady Knights were led by Lexi Bright with 19 points, 3 steals, 2 rebounds and an assist.  Ella Van Kempen had another double-double with 14 points, 13 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 blocks and an assist. Hailey Bennett scored 12 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, assisted on 3 baskets and had 2 steals.  Kennedy Ulrich had 5 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 assists and a steal.  Morgan Woodle put in 4 points with 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.  Brynn Fernholz scored 4 points with 3 steals and 2 rebounds.  Kaitlyn Hansen had 3 points and a steal.  Brooke Anderson scored 3 points and had an assist.  Kaylyn Ulrich had 2 points and a rebound.  Elizabeth Rustan had 5 assists, 4 rebounds and a steal.  Teagan Nelson had 2 rebounds and 2 assists.  Kaitlyn Sanstead had an assist.  Halle Foslien grabbed a rebound.

Coach Eric Schoenbauer said, “This was a positive game in many aspects, but the main reason it was good was we collectively did a great job limiting a very dynamic player to 6 points.  Being able to help each other and having great defensive efforts from everyone was fun to see.”

The Lady Knights travel to Ortonville on Friday night for a section and conference match-up against the Trojans.
