Otter Boys Drop Overtime Contest at Apollo

The Fergus Falls boys basketball team played their second straight overtime game when they battled St. Cloud Apollo on Tuesday night on the Eagles home court. The Otters came up short
in a 76-70 loss.

Mohamed Mohamed buried a three-point field goal at the buzzer to send the game to overtime with the teams tied at 63-63.

 

With the game tied 67-67 and under two minutes remaining in overtime, Apollo got a three point field goal from Chang Hoth, and a steal which led to a dunk, giving the Eagles a five point lead.  
Guard Mike Gravelle of Apollo made twelve consecutive free throws, including several in overtime, to lead the Eagles with 28 points.  Deng Diew added 18 points and Hoth had 13 points and a team high 6 rebounds.  Apollo made 19-of-23 free throws and the Eagles took advantage of 17 Fergus Falls turnovers in the game.  The Eagles turned the ball over only 8 times.

 

Dominic Aguilar (18 points, 4 assists), Nic Pearson (16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists) and Ashwin Stratton (13 points, 3 3’s) led the Otters, who lost Ethan Olson to a knee injury in the first half.  Parker Jacobs also reached double figures with 11 points.

 

Fergus Falls (11-11, 6-6 CLC) will host Sartell-St. Stephen on Friday night in another Central Lakes Conference contest.
