The Ashby Arrows Boys Basketball team lost to the Brandon-Evansville Chargers 55-52 on Friday night in Evansville.  It is the second straight loss for the Arrows, who fell to 13-5 on the season. B-E saw their record level out at 10-10.

"Along with it being Parents Night we had a fundraiser for a Kindergartener and son of two Brandon-Evansville teachers, Lucas Bosma," said Chargers Head Coach Trent Hintermeister.  "Lucas will be having surgery on Tuesday for a brain tumor that was recently found and had been affecting his eye sight.  We raised over $2,000 at the game and I couldn't be more proud of the Ashby, Brandon and Evansville communities for stepping up and showing their support for a family in need.  Sometimes the basketball game is the lesser of importance when it comes to two teams facinig off and that was the case tonight. I'm just happy to be a part of this community. As for the game, we played hard and came out on top as we had multiple players play their role to the best of their ability."

Sam Fuller (14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals), Tanner Bitzan (10 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists), Keagan Schiele (10 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists) and Marshall Riedel (10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals) led the way for B-E.  The Chargers shot 38% (19-50) from the field and made 8-of-20 (40%) from beyond the arc.

Jaden Norby of the Arrows led all scorers with 23 points.  Scott Johnson contributed 19.  Christian Norby chased down 14 rebounds.  The Arrows shot 38% (17/45) from the field and 69% (11/16) from the free throw line.

“The Chargers started out red hot and built a double digit lead early in the game,” said Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “We chipped away and took the lead just before halftime. They made more good plays than we did, especially down the stretch, and deserved the victory.”

The Arrows fall to 8-3 in the LEC and go to 13-5 overall.  Ashby looks forward to another three game week with a home game Tuesday versus the Hancock Owls.  Thursday and Friday they hit the road to face the Verndale Pirates and the Underwood Rockets.

Brandon-Evansville will play at Rothsay on Monday, visit West Central Area on Tuesday and host Parkers Prairie on Friday as they also have a three game week.
