The West Central Area Knights fell behind 11-0 to the Upsala Cardinals but overcame that deficit to post a 65-56 win.  The Knights outscored the Cardinals 29-16 the rest of the half to take a 29-27 halftime lead and went on to outscore the Cardinals 36-29 in the second half.

The Knights made 20-58 shots for 34% and the Cardinals 19-54 for 35%. The Knights hit 7-21 threes for 33%.  The Cardinals made 12-35 threes for 35%.

Knight Coach Kraig Hunter said, "Upsala is a good 3-point shooting team that runs their dribble drive offense well.  They played very well tonight, especially early.  Our guys did a good job of adjusting to what they were doing and showed a lot of resiliency when things didn't go well to start the game.  It was a good team effort tonight with a lot of guys contributing by doing little things that make a difference in games like this."

Scoring for the Knights was Jack VanKempen 19, Gage Staples 11, Grant Beuckens 9, Jacob Bright 8, Teigen Moritz 7, Blake Koloski 6, and Tate Christenson 5.

Upsala held a 42-37 rebounding edge.  Rebounding leaders for the Knights were Moritz with 7, Staples and Gavin Paulson with 6 each, and Koloski and Beuckens with 5 each.  "Gavin Paulson and Blake Koloski each had four offensive rebounds and Teigen Moritz had three that were at crucial times.  Koloski also led us with 5 deflections and Paulson 4.  Those hustle plays are important in these games," said Hunter.

Christenson and VanKempen were the assist leaders with three each and Staples led with two steals.

The Knights turned the ball over 10 times and the Cardinals 15.  From the free throw line, the Knights hit 18-27 and the Cardinals 6-11.  "In the second half, we did a better job of reversing the ball and then attacking the basket to get to the free throw line and we also made all of our free throws down the stretch to seal the game," added Hunter.

Scoring for Upsala were Jorgan Reily with 17, Levi Lampert 14, Alex Thieschafer 12, Riley Johnson 5, Carter Johnson 5, and Zach Bartkowicz 3.
