Otter Girls Extend Winning Streak to Eight Games

Four players finished in double figures for the Fergus Falls girls basketball team on Monday night as they won their eighth straight game by beating Detroit Lakes, 82-54 on the Lakers home court. 

Ellie Colbeck led the way with 24 points. Tori Ratz added 17, Sabrina Fronninghad 15 and Sam Evavold 14. Fronning also had a team high 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Evavold dished out 5 assists and Colbeck had 3 steals. 

“We had under ten turnover on the night and just a couple in the second half which really is a nice sign of our improvement in handling the ball,” said Head Coach Brad Strand of the Otters. “We played hard from the start in a rival game, a section game, and that was good to see. The girls got after it right away and brought a lot of energy to the court.”

Ellie Lunde and Emily Larson led the Lakers with 11 and 10 points, respectively. 

Fergus Falls improved their season record to 16-3 win the win. They will host St. Cloud Apollo on Tuesday and Sauk Rapids-Rice on Friday. 

In the JV game, Fergus Falls posted a 68-42 win. Abby Tysdal scored 18 points and Anna Anderson added 14. The ‘B’ team improved to 16-1 with a 52-23 win. Makayla Huus finished with 18 points.
