Lady Knights Fall to Menahga in Barrett

The Lady Knights hosted the Menahga Braves on Tuesday night in a non-conference showdown. The game started out with a lot of energy and up and down the floor. Menahga was ahead 5-4 and then went on a run to expand the lead. The Lady Knights tried to battle back, but were unsuccessful in their attempts. The lead was 49-27 in the first half for the Braves. The second half was back and forth and the lead never grew more than 26, but was never cut less than 18 points. The final score was 78-58 in the end with the Braves winning the game and stopping a four game WCA winning streak in the process. 

 

The Lady Knights were led by Ella Van Kempen with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 1 steals, and an assist. Hailey Bennett poured in 9 points, distributed 4 assists and had 2 rebounds. Lexi Bright scored 13 points, had 2 assists, 4 steals and 2 rebounds. Brynn Fernholz had 9 points, a steal and 2 assists. Morgan Woodle put in 4 points to go along with her 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists. Kennedy Ulrichscored 2 points with 2 rebounds, and an assist. Kaitlyn Sanstead had an assist. Teagan Nelson had 3 points, a rebound, a steal,and 3 assists. Elizabeth Rustanhad 2 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. 

“Playing a very strong team is always fun, because it shows where we need to go from here,” commented Head Coach Eric Schoenbauer. “There are things we can do as a staff and as a team to put ourselves in a better situation moving forward.” 

The Lady Knights (10-5) will travel to Graceville to face C-G-B on Friday night.
