Otter Bowlers Start Winter Girls' Season in Brainerd

The 2019 Girls Minnesota High School Bowling season got under way in Brainerd on Sunday. The teams in the Central NW conference are Fergus Falls Maroon, Fergus Falls Gold, Brainerd, Detroit Lakes, Perham, and St. Cloud Area. 

The Fergus Falls Maroon team is senior Morgan Christenson, juniors Kaitlyn Krensing and Atlanta Goulet, freshmen Kacey Fredrickson and Morgan West, and seventh-grader Alayna Price. In the first match, FF Maroon beat FF Gold, 5-0, with Christenson leading the team with 90% fills. FF Maroon defeated Perham in match two, 4-1, led by Krensing (84%) and Fredrickson (70%). Price (70%) and Goulet (70%) set the pace as FF Maroon completed the sweep by topping St Cloud Area, 3-2. 

This year's Fergus Falls Gold team is made up of eighth-graders Mackinzie Bristand Amelia Eide, and seventh-graders Sara JohnsonKjerstin Erickson, and Kaydence Knutson. Knutson led FF Gold in the loss to FF Maroon with a 60% fill percentage. FF Gold dropped match two to Detroit Lakes, 0-5, with Brist leading the team at 45%. FF Gold lost 2-3 to Brainerd in the final match, with Johnson team-high at 63%. 

The Otter girls travel to Great River Bowl in Sartell on Sunday, January 20, with competition beginning at 1:00PM.
