The West Central Area Lady Knights hosted the Ortonville Trojans on Thursday night. The game was fast paced and physical throughout. The Knights would build a double digit lead in the first half and grow it to a 43-21 advantage at halftime. The game was never in question even though the Trojans never let up and pushed the entire time. The final was 82-48 in favor of the Lady Knights.

“Tonight the girls played a great game together and leaned on each other to make plays,” said Head Coach Eric Schoenbauer. “We have to make sure we continue to do the little things that make us a solid team, because we shot the lights out tonight.”

The Lady Knights were led by Lexi Bright and Ella Van Kempen scoring 15 points each. Van Kempen had 9 rebounds, 8 blocks, 4 assists and 3 steals tonight. Bright added 4 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Kaitlyn Hansen had 13 points, 2 steals and a rebound; Hailey Bennett scored 9 points, with 5 assists, 2 rebounds and a steal; Teagan Nelson had 6 points, an assist, a steal and a rebound; Elizabeth Rustan put in 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds; Kennedy Ulrich had 4 points, 3 rebounds and an assist; Kaitlyn Sanstead chipped in 4 points and 2 rebounds; Brynn Fernholz had 4 points, 5 steals, 2 rebounds, an assist and a block; Ireland Winter scored 4 points; Brooke Anderson had 2 points, 2 assists, a rebound and a steal; Kaylyn Ulrich had a rebound and a steal; Morgan Woodle had 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals.

“Morgan Woodle exemplifies why we are becoming a good team, because her box score doesn’t illustrate all that she does for us on the floor from her defense to her tips to our players for offensive rebounds,” noted Coach Schoenbauer. “If we continue getting contributions like these from all of our players we will become very strong.”

The Lady Knights will host Ashby on Tuesday night in Barrett.
