Spartan Men Come Back Strong to Beat Ridgewater

M State won their third game in the last four outings when they defeated Ridgewater 82-70 on Saturday afternoon in Fergus Falls. The win puts the Spartans at 8-7 overall, 1-1 in the MCAC Southern Division and 7-1 on their home court. 

 

The Spartans overcame a 38-29 halftime deficit, scoring 53 second half points while holding Ridgewater to 32. 

M State shot 43% (30-70) from the field and made 76% (16-21) of their free throw attempts. Austin Miller hit 8-of-10 free throws on the way to a team high 25 points. Martin LaFond added 14 points. Kyler Newman and Alend Alemadiscored 14 and 10 points, respectively, coming off the bench. Ty’Shawn Bryant led the rebounding effort with 11 and Aaron Solberg had 7 boards. Miller and Newman had 3 assists each. M State had only 11 turnovers on the day. 

Ridgewater shot 39% (22-56). They were led by Sam Olson (16 points), Jadaunte Sutton (15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals) and Daiviante Ostrander (15 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals). 

The Spartans will play at Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids on Wednesday night.
