The Barnesville Trojans found their shooting touch as they knocked down nine, three-point shots en route to an 83-64 victory over Badger/Green Bush-Middle River hosted in Glyndon in the first of a two day, double-header.

The Trojans opened up the game with a Brooks Martinson three-point shot followed by a Hunter Zenzen layup, two Kellen Hinsz free throws and another Zenzen layup for a quick 9-0 lead, forcing BGMR to take a time out.

After the Gators tallied a three ball, the Trojans scored the next nine points behind an Adam Tonsfeldt layup, a Grant Inniger layup off an offensive rebound, a Sam Askegaard three and a Martinson jump shot taking an 18-3 lead.

Tonsfeldt would connect on a pair of three balls with Hinsz following with two, three pointers of his own, with Kaden Zenzen working the paint netting six points, as the Trojans used an aggressive offense to take a commanding 49-29 lead into intermission.

The Trojans extended their lead to start the second half to 30 points behind seven points from Jason Henrickson, five points from Kaden Zenzen, four points from Hunter Zenzen, three from Tonsfeldt, two from Hinsz and one from Askegaard giving Barnesville a 71-41 lead with the Trojans bench about to enter the game.

The Trojans would build their lead to 83-49 with senior, Nick Swenson netting a three-point shot and Inniger tallying five points before the Gators ran off the last 15 points of the game to make the final score a more respectable 83-64.

“It was nice to get back into the win column after dropping our last game,” stated Head Coach Todd Henrickson. “We jumped out to a big lead early and were swarming the Gators on the defensive end. We were working the ball inside out, netting points in the paint and behind the arc. We had great balance in our scoring and got back to distributing the ball to whoever was open. It was an excellent victory for our team.”

The Trojans were led by Tonsfeldt who tallied 17 points, behind three, three-point shots, handing out six assists, grabbing three rebounds and netting two steals, with Hinsz chipping in 12 points and grabbing four steals.

Kaden Zenzen finished the game with 11 points and six rebounds, with Askegaard netting nine points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Inniger added nine points, five rebounds and three assists.

Hunter Zenzen added eight points and 11 rebounds, with Martinson netting seven points, two boards, two assists and two steals, while Henrickson chipped in seven points and two assists, with Nick Swenson hitting a three-point shot to go along with three rebounds.

Barnesville’s record improves to 6-2 on the season.
