After a scoreless first period the Otters got on the board with a power play goal from Chase Jensen at 4:24 of the second period. The goal was assisted by Aaron Shelstad and Mason Hoffman.
Detroit Lakes tied the game at 7:12 of the middle stanza on an even strength goal by Brady Morris. Assists went to Jackson Fields and Will Stowman.
Fergus Falls put 24 shots on the Laker net and Otter goaltender Ian Stumbostopped 21 of 22 DL shots on goal.
For tournament purposes the two teams played overtime and the Lakers were able to pull out a 2-1 victory. Officially, the game goes in the books as a 1-1 tie.
Fergus Falls (4-5-2) will travel to Warroad on Friday and Crookston on Saturday.
