Spartan Men Fall to Raiders at CLC Invite

The Central Lakes Raiders outscored the M State Men’s Basketball team 40-28 over the final twenty minutes of play to overcome a 40-38 halftime deficit and post a 78-68 win over the Spartans in the Central Lakes Classic Invitational on Friday night. 

Alend Alemadi scored 20 points off the bench for the Spartans, hitting 7-of-10 field goal attempts. Austin Miller and Samuel Priem joined Alemadi in double digits, scoring 14 and 11 points, respectively. M State was 22-for-48 (46%) from the field and buried 42% (11-26) of their treys. Rebound leaders were Martin Lafond with 9 and TJ Martin with 8. Martin distributed a team high six assists and Aaron Solberg had a pair of steals. 

Central Lakes placed three players in double figures, led by Al-Jureau Ray with 24 points and Josh Arnold with 21. Malik Kelly contributed 16 points. As a team the Raiders made 42% (28-67) of their shots and hit 8-of-23 three-pointers. They held a 45-35 advantage on the boards and Kelly pulled down a team high 11 rebounds, while Ray had 8. Kelly also led the Raiders with 5 assists and 4 steals as Central Lakes improved to 6-2 on the year. 

M State (5-5) will close out their pre-Christmas schedule with a 2:00pm game in Brainerd against Rainy River Community College.
