Knights Fall to Seventh Ranked Silverstreaks

The Osakis Silverstreaks, the #7 ranked team in Minnesota Class AA, came to Barrett on Friday night and came away with a tight 64-58 win over the West Central Area Knights. 

Osakis moved to a perfect 6-0 but this was their toughest test as they have won all of their previous five games by 19 points or more. 

Knight Coach Kraig Hunter said, "We played a really good second half.  We were right there in a one possession game on several occasions but just couldn't get over the hump to tie it or take the lead." 

Osakis hit 19-43 field goals for 44% and 4-14 threes for 29%.  The Knights shot 24-50 for 48% and hit 4-12 threes for 33%.  The Silverstreaks had a big edge on the free throw line hitting 22-29 while the Knights made 6-10.  Osakis held a slight 28-27 edge on the boards. 

The Knights placed three players in double figures in Grant Beuckens 18 points (7 assists), Gage Staples 13 (8 rebounds and 3 assists), and Jack VanKempen 11 points (5 rebounds, 4 assists).   

Blake Koloski contributed 6 points and 3 assists, Teigen Moritz 4 points and 7 rebounds, Gavin Paulson 4 points and 3 rebounds, and Tate Christenson 2 points and 2 assists. 

Junior standout Daniel Savageau was impressive again leading Osakis with 26 points, Brandon Boogaard had 14, Luke Imdieke 12, Kobe Lara 7, Carter Rost 3, and Carter Grove 2. 

Coach Hunter concluded that, "We are improving in many areas every game.  We are 3-3 on the year and our three losses are to teams that are a combined 18-2.  We know we have a good basketball team and we will keep working to continually getting better."
