3-Goal Third Period Lifts St. Cloud to 5-3 Win Over Otter Boys

The St. Cloud Tech-Apollo boys hockey team overcame a 3-2 deficit with a 3-goal third period Thursday night as they handed the Fergus Falls Otters a 5-3 loss at the MAC in St. Cloud. Tech-Apollo held a 28-19 edge in shots on goal with Spencer Bertram stopping 16 shots for the home team and Ian Stumbo making 23 saves for the visitors.

Fergus Falls struck first when Mike DeBrito scored from Mason Hoffman and Isaac Young at 6:06 of the opening period. A pair of goal from Sam Oster, the first at 11:17, assisted by Luke Johnson, and the second at 13:15, assisted by Cory Warner and Jack Randolph, gave St. Cloud a 2-1 lead after the first period. 

Ian Richards notched the game tying goal at 1:57 of the second period with assists going to Isaac Young and Isaac Ahlgren. Chase Jensen scored at 14:52, giving the Otters a 3-2 lead. Aaron Shelstad and Declan Young assisted on the goal. 

A goal by Sean Davidson at 2:50, assisted by Oster and Randolph, tied the game at 3-3 and Tanner Simonson’s goal from Davidson at 5:05 gave Tech-Apollo a 4-3 lead. August Falloon scored the final goal of the game at 14:28 with assists from Luke Johnson and Drew Boike

Fergus Falls (3-5-1) will host their annual Holiday Tournament beginning on Thursday when they play Providence Academy at 7:00pm.
