Knights Drop One Point Decision to Hancock

The Hancock Owls claimed a 57-56 boys basketball victory over the West Central Area Knights in Barrett on Tuesday night in front of a big crowd. 

Knight Coach Kraig Hunter said, "It was a great atmosphere with a big crowd.  Both teams played well with numerous lead changes.  We did many things well, but unfortunately we came up a bit short. It hurts to play that well and not get the victory.  We are extremely proud of our guys effort.  We are going to focus on the positives, try to learn from it and keep getting better." 

The Knights defense held the sharp shooting Hancock team to 23-55 shooting for 42% including 9-27 on 3's.  The Knights converted 22-47 shots for 47%.  The Knights had six different players hit 3's in the game making ten of them total. 

The Owls were 2-2 from the line and the Knights were 2-4. 

The Knights held a 31-27 advantage on the boards.  The difference in the game was the Knights turning the ball over 15 times to 6 for Hancock resulting in the Owls getting 8 more shots attempts from the field. 

Leaders for the Knights were Teigen Moritz with 14 points and 8 rebounds; Jack VanKempen had a double double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocked shots and 3 assists; Tate Christenson had 9 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals; Grant Beuckens had 8 points and 6 assists; Jacob Bright 8 points and 3 rebounds; Blake Koloski 5 points and 2 assists; Gage Staples had 2 points and 2 rebounds and Gavin Paulson had 4 rebounds. 

Scoring for the Owls were Bennett Nienhaus 19, Connor Reese 13, Dan Milander 10, Peyton Rohloff 6, Cole Reese 6, and Preston Rohloff 3.
