The West Central Lady Knights faced the Parkers Prairie Panthers in Section 6A action Tuesday night in Barrett.

The beginning of the game was back and forth with the Panthers holding a 6-4 lead early in the game. The lead jumped from there to 21-4 in favor of the Panthers. The Lady Knights battled back and cut the lead to 27-15 at halftime. The second half saw the Lady Knights cut the lead to 8 and then the Panthers grew the lead to 16 again. The final two minutes the game was 10 points most of the time, with the Panthers hitting free throws and the Knights attacking the rim. The final was 67-58 in the Panthers favor.

Lexi Bright led the Knights with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 assists. Ella Van Kempen scored 15 points, with 5 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 steals and an assist. Elizabeth Rustan had 7 points, Morgan Woodle chipped in 6 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists, Kennedy Ulrich had 4 points, 3 rebounds and a steal, Kaitlyn Sanstead had 2 points and 4 rebounds, Kaitlyn Hansen had a point and a rebound, Hailey Bennett had 2 rebounds and an assist, Brynn Fernholz had a rebound and Teagan Nelson had a steal.

“Tonight we were not flowing well together after the initial surge of the game, but there was a great outcome to the game in the fact that we never gave up and the girls responded very well to adjustments we were trying to make,” said WCA Head Coach Eric Schoenbauer. “The Panthers are a good team and they held our shooting percentage down, but when the girls started to do the little things correctly we started to battle back. Giving a team nearly a 20 point lead out of the gates is very difficult to overcome, but we tried!”
