The Ashby Arrows traveled to Battle Lake and came away with a 60-38 victory to open the Little Eight Conference season.  The Arrows enjoyed a 28-14 halftime advantage.

The Arrows had a balanced scoring attack.  Jaden Norby led all scorers with 22 points.  Scott Johnson also reached double figures for the third straight game netting 14.  Noah Johnson had a season high 9.  Hunter Norby came off the bench to score 8 points and Christian Norby added 7.  Statistical leaders included Dakota Ecker who dished out 5 assists.  Both Jaden and Hunter Norby had 4 steals.  Christian Norby grabbed 13 rebounds.

“Our guys were very good defensively, particularly in the first half holding the Battlers to 14 points,” said Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “They limited Battle Lake to one shot on most possessions and played at a good pace on the offensive end.”

Riley Leabo and Brennan Amundson each scored 9 points to lead Battle Lake.

“Ashby played well,” said Battle Lake Head Coach CJ Peters. “They are well coached and they played their game. They got the ball inside, were patient, and fought for every possession. We couldn’t get anything going and we were not in sync at all. They didn’t give us any easy looks. We need to buy in still, but we fixed some of our first game mistakes.”

Ashby raises their overall record to 2-1 with the win and next has another Little Eight Conference match-up at Hillcrest Thursday night. Battle Lake (0-2) will play at Underwood in their next game on Thursday night.
