Ashby Boys Defeat New York Mills for First Win

The Ashby Arrows Boys Basketball Team earned their first win of the season defeating the New York Mills Eagles in the Ashby gym 57-44 on Thursday night.  The Arrows led 31-22 at the halftime break. 

The Arrows' Scott Johnson led all scorers with 24 points.  Jaden Norby also reached double figures with 18.  Jaden completed a double-double grabbing 14 rebounds.  Dakota Ecker notched 5 assists and Christian Norby recorded 5 steals to lead the Arrows in those statistical categories.  Noah Johnson played at a high level on both sides of the floor.  Hunter Norby came off the bench to net 9 points. Ashton Ecker also provided valuable play off the bench in the first half. 

As a team, the Arrows shot 42% (25/60) for the game.  They gathered 30 rebounds and dished out 17 assists. 

“Our defensive intensity was pretty good for most of the game,” said Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “We had several solid offensive possessions down the stretch to seal the deal.” 

The Eagles had two players reach double figures.  Devin Graudette led the way with 15 points on five made three point shots and post player Jonas Baune added 13. 

The victory evens the Arrow record at 1-1.  The Arrows travel to Battle Lake to take on the Battlers next Tuesday night.
