Otter Boys Drain 8 3's in Win Over Brainerd

The Fergus Falls boys basketball team connected on eight 3-point attempts Thursday night as they defeated the Brainerd Warriors by the score of 61-40 in their first Central Lakes Conference game of the season.

Five different Otters buried treys, including senior Matt Johnson who hit three from beyond the arc.  Johnson finished with a game high 20 points, dished out 9 assists and came up with 4 steals.  Sophomore Dominic Aguilar hit a pair of 3's in the first half and ended the night with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and two steals.  Ethan Olson pulled down 8 rebounds and Nic Pearson garnered four steals.

The lead changed hands three times early in the game and the two teams were tied at 10-10 when the Otters went on a fifteen point run to take a 25-10 lead.  They increased their lead to eighteen points late in the first half and had a 31-16 halftime lead.  The Otters led by as many as 26 points in the second half.

Brainerd was led by ten points from Ben StaehlingOwen Davis and Joey Sauer each had nine points for the Warriors.

The Otters (2-0) will travel to Princeton to face the second ranked Tigers on Friday night.
