Lady Arrows Outduel Battle Lake Girls

The Ashby Arrows used a strong second half to overcome the Battle Lake Battlers on Tuesday night in a Little Eight Conference girls basketball game in Ashby. Trailing by 2 at the half, the Arrows changed up their defense to go on a run to start the second half and went on to win 51-42. 

The Arrows used balanced rebounding to keep the Battlers in check with Josey Ness leading the way with 8 boards, Aanika Anderson and Courtney Koefod grabbed 7 each, while Kalista Aamot garnered 6. Koefod scored a game high 23 points using outstanding hustle to create many opportunities for herself and her teammates. All told, Koefod collected 11 steals to her all around amazing effort and led the team with 5 assists. Josey Ness joined Koefod in double figures, scoring 14 points. 

Leaders for Battle Lake were Grace VanErp with 15 points and Halie Johnson with 13. 

“The first half was close, with both teams exchanging the lead at times,” commented Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso.  “At halftime we clung to a 26-24 lead.  In the second half, we struggled with the Arrows different defensive sets and fell behind early and would never recover.”
