The Ottertail Central Bulldogs placed fifth in the Class A State Wrestling Tournament last year, after finishing as Section 6A championship. They had fourteen section placers, five state qualifiers and three wrestlers who placed in the state meet. The Bulldogs did graduate eight members of that team, but return a solid nucleus as they attempt to defend their section title.
Coach Scott Hart welcomes back seniors Max Naddy (24-16, 4th in the Section two years ago) and Hunter Doll (14-23, 6th in the Section), juniors Zane Swanson(Section Champ, All-Conference), Wyatt Thorson (33-13, 4th in Section, All-Conference), Matt Hendricks (21-18, 3rd in Section), Hayden Hart (26-26, 6th in Section), Laredo Bugbee (21-21, 3rd in Section), Noah Schleske (9-11) and Nick Gardin (3-5), sophomores Reed Leabo (3-5) and Cian Buehler (3-3) and freshman Brien Poser (7-13).
The Bulldogs lost Ben Naddy (39-1, State Champ, Section Champ, All-Conference, 150-17 Career Record), Nate Hart (47-3, 4th in State, Section Champ, 152-42 Career Record), Marc Hendricks (40-11, Section Champ, 6th in State, All-Conference, 100-77 Career Record), RJ Ehlert (33-15, 2nd in Section, 6th in State, All-Conference), Alex Erlandson (25-19, 4th in Section), Jace Leabo (28-19, 5th in Section), Kevin Tierney (18-22, 4th in Section) and Ramon Lopez-Moen (11-21, 6th in Section) to graduation, making for several opportunities for wrestlers entering the 2018-2019 season.
