Knights Come Up Short vs Eagles

The LQPV Eagles defeated the West Central Area Knights 68-60 in the boys basketball season opener for both teams in Madison on Friday night.  LQPV shot 21-45 for 42% and made 8-15 threes for 53%.  They also shot 30 free throws making 18.

 

The Knights only got to the line eight times going 3-8.  From the field they were 25-59 for 42% and hit 7-19 threes.

The Knights strong point was their rebounding where they held a 33-29 advantage.  However 18 turnovers to LQPV's 13 was too many to overcome.

Coach Kraig Hunter said, "We have a lot to work on.  On the bright side, we competed hard."

Leaders for the Knights were Jack VanKempen with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 5 blocked shots, and 2 steals.  Grant Beuckens added 17 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals; Gage Staples had 7 points and 8 rebounds; Teigen Moritz 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists; Blake Koloski 4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals; Jacob Bright 3 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists; Gavin Paulson 2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals and Tate Christenson added an assist and 2 steals.

Caden Bjornjeld led the Eagles with 25 points, Austin Bonn 15, Maverick Conn14, Thomas Daniels 8, Tucker Droogsma 2, Evan Heglund 2, and Mason Clark2.
