Taylin Schleicher joined Hovland in double digits with 18 points, while pulling down 8 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists. Alexa Mortenson added 7 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists, and Olivia Winfrey had 7 points, 10 rebounds and two assists.
“We got off to a slow start, but were able to make adjustments and execute the game plan down the stretch,” said M State Head Coach Janice Hendrickson. “We struggled to take care of the ball in the first half, turning it over 12 times, but patience and control in the second half kept us to 17 total. We will have to rebound quickly as we host Mesabi Range Saturday at 1pm.”
M State shot 46.2% (30-65) from the field and held a 46-43 edge on the boards. Vermiliion made 29.4% (20-68) of their shots.
Vermilion was led by Bailey Bassette (23 points, 16 rebounds) and Terri Sutton(11 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals).
