Perham Boys Open with 86-51 Win at The Hive

The Perham boys basketball team opened the season in their new gymnasium, ‘The Hive’, with an impressive 86-51 win over the Crookston Pirates. Perham connected on 56% (36-64) of their field goal attempts, including 39% (9-23) of their 3-point shots, while holding Crookston to 37% (19-51) shooting. 

 

Jensen Beachy hit 10 of his 12 shots from the field, including all eight of his two-point attempts to finish with a game high 23 points, while dishing out four assists. Josh Jeziorski added 19 points and 7 rebounds and Finn Diggins (9 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) turned in a solid floor game. Carter Cresap contributed 7 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. 

Perham won the rebounding battle, 36-28 and dished out a total of 23 assists on their 36 made baskets. They also kept turnovers to a minimum as they had only nine on the night. 

Crookston was led by Caden Osborn with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Jaden Lubarski had 14 points and Nick Garmen finished with 11 points. 

The Yellowjackets will face Minnehaha Academy in the Big 12 Classic at 12:45pm Saturday at Cretin-Derham Hall High School in St. Paul.
