Otter Girls Place Five in Double Digits in Win Over Bemidji

The Fergus Falls girls basketball team placed five players in double figures and forced 22 turnovers in their 85-63 win over Bemidji Thursday night in their home opener.

 

Tori Ratz connected on five 3-pointers and led the Otters with 20 points.  Lily Pearson scoredf 17 points and pulled down a team high 8 rebounds.  Sabrina Fronning recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 assists, while adding 3 steals and 3 rebounds.  Sam Evavold had 11 points and 4 boards and Ellie Colbeck finished with 10 points, 9 assists, 4 steals and 6 rebounds.  Nycole Mouritsen contributed 4 points and 4 rebounds off the bench.

"I'm really happy with the way the girls played tonight," said Fergus Falls Head Coach Brad Strand.  "It was a much different game that what we saw in Albany on Tuesday night.  It started with defensive execution that led to some good offensive basketball.  We had lots of energy on the floor and great balance."

The Otters never trailed in the game and led by as many as 30 points.  Fergus Falls had only 11 turnovers on the night.

Bemidji senior Rumer Flatness led the visitors with 17 points and Mackenzie Nicklason finished with 14.

Fergus Falls will host Detroit Lakes on Tuesday night.
